Transform Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

A fast, safe and beautiful way to enhance your front teeth.

Porcelain veneers are among the most popular and effective ways to rejuvenate unattractive or worn front teeth. These wafer-thin porcelain shells are bonded to the front of your teeth, quickly improving their colour, shape, size and alignment, and can even conceal large or discoloured fillings. At Netherton Dental Practice we focus on porcelain veneers for their superior strength and luminosity, with composite veneers available as a more budget-friendly alternative.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin shells, usually around 0.3–0.5mm thick, crafted from high-quality dental porcelain. Each shell is bonded to the front of a tooth to refresh its appearance, and a small amount of tooth reduction is needed first — which means the treatment is irreversible.

They tackle a wide range of cosmetic concerns, from discolouration and chips to gaps, uneven teeth and minor misalignment.

Porcelain vs Composite Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

The premium choice for a truly transformative, natural result.

  • Custom-made for you in a dental laboratory
  • Exceptionally durable and stain-resistant
  • Superior luminosity that mirrors real enamel
  • Need a small amount of tooth reduction (a thin layer of enamel removed), so they are irreversible
  • Typically last 10–15 years or more

Composite Veneers

A more affordable, flexible alternative, though without porcelain’s lustre.

  • Built up directly on the tooth and sculpted by hand
  • Often completed in a single appointment
  • Kinder on the budget than porcelain
  • Simpler to repair if damaged
  • Usually last around 5–7 years

The Porcelain Veneer Process

1

Consultation — we discuss the look you want and check that veneers will suit you.

2

Preparation — a thin layer of enamel is gently removed and detailed impressions are taken.

3

Trial smile & temporaries — we create a mock-up so you can preview the result, with temporaries fitted while your veneers are made.

4

Bonding — your bespoke porcelain veneers are precisely bonded into place.

5

Finishing — final adjustments give a perfect fit and a natural, radiant finish.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

Porcelain Veneers

10–15+ years with good care — highly stain-resistant and hard-wearing.

Composite Veneers

5–7 years — easier to repair and cheaper to replace.

To get the best from your veneers, keep up good oral hygiene, avoid biting hard objects, and attend regular check-ups so we can keep an eye on them.

Are Porcelain Veneers Right for Me?

Porcelain veneers could be ideal if you would like to:

  • Brighten stained or discoloured teeth
  • Close small gaps between your teeth
  • Disguise chips or cracks
  • Create a more even, symmetrical smile

They are not the answer for teeth with significant decay or severe misalignment, where orthodontics or other restorative treatment may be the better place to start.

Please note: Porcelain veneers are a private treatment.
